NY Times publishes tonsil stone article to main stream media

January 31, 2010 in Tonsil Stones, Tonsillolith by Josh (admin)

Remember back when you didn’t know what was causing your bad breath, before you knew what tonsil stones were?  NY Times has published an article that has gotten a lot of attention, spreading the word of this condition around the internet.   They talk about what they are, which most of us already know, but they also interview Megan Swann which is a friend of mine.  We’ve talked about tonsil stones solutions and prevention on her health blog a number of months ago.  It’s good that someone with authority like the NY Times has published an article like this, hopefully helping more people around the world diagnose their bad breath conditions and give them the starting point to do something about it!  Unfortunately they don’t cover any preventative or dietary methods to stopping tonsil stones, as we do in our ebook (available for free on our home page).

What are your thoughts on mainstreams idea of tonsil stones? Do you think it’s diluted with retail products and affiliate sales pages, or do you think good information is being published on this increasingly popular topic?

10 Ways to Prevent Tonsil Stones

January 15, 2010 in Tonsil Stone Remedies, Tonsil Stones by Josh (admin)

This page is going to cover 10 preventative methods to stop tonsil stones.  Tonsil stones, for most people, seem to form out of nowhere for no reason but the truth of the matter is some foods and drinks really do encourage their growth!  Here’s a list of different ways to prevent and remove tonsil stones.

Tonsil Stones Prevention:

1. Alcoholic mouthwashes can increase halitosis levels in patients with and without tonsil stones.  This is because alcohol drys out the mouth and encourages the growth of bad bacteria, including the growth of tonsilloliths.

2. Alcoholic drinks will increase the growth rate of stones as well, for the same reasons.  Our community has tested this on multiple occasions.   We rated our tonsil stone condition before and after a period where we drank alcohol and in every case there was an increase in tonsil stone levels.

3. Dairy products are one of the biggest train wrecks of tonsil stones.  Drinking milk daily, or using dairy creamer in coffee daily will result in a constant production of these nasty buggers.

4. This goes without saying, but good oral hygiene is a great foundation for any breath problems.  While good oral hygiene will not stop tonsil stones, it gives your mouth the building blocks for a good environment to prosper in.

5. Flossing and gum maintenance are also good steps for the prevention of tonsil stones and bad breath.  Again this step will not stop them from forming but the healthier your mouth is in general, the easier it will be to keep your mouth healthy.

6. Tongue scraping is a wonderful way to promote fresh breath and minimize the production and potency of tonsil stones.  Remember that any method that reduces the amount of “bad” bacteria in the mouth, will help in tonsil stones prevention.

7. Gargle with diluted Grapefruit Seed Extract 2 through 3 times per day.  This is an important step.  To be totally honest, I don’t know why this product works for stopping tonsil stones but it does.

8. Minimize mouth bacteria by flushing out the nasal cavities.  Using a Nasal & Sinus Irrigation Systemwill prevent all the bacteria from the nasal cavity from dripping down the back of your throat and tongue, where the worst oral bacteria is located.

9. Using an Oxygenated Toothpaste helps promote an extremely healthy environment for your mouth, reducing the ability for tonsil stones to grow.  This method alone will not prevent tonsil stones but it absolutely recommended as part of your oral hygiene method.

10. Sign up as a user on our tonsil stones website!  You’ll be able to talk to people exactly like you who have suffered with tonsil stones their entire lives.  You’ll be able to post your own stories for the world to see, and read other people’s stories, this is essential because it will give you a different perspective on how people have dealt with their problems, and the solutions that they’ve found in the end.

I hope these preventative method to stopping tonsil stones will help everyone that reads them.  I believe they’re the best preventative methods that are currently available.  While some of them may not be “popular” methods, they’ve all been testing and approved by the thousands of people that visit this website per month!  Take Care

Tonsil Stones – Get Rid of Them Now!

January 13, 2010 in Post Nasal Drip, Tonsil Stone Remedies, Tonsil Stones by Josh (admin)

If you’re reading this article, you’re probably trying to figure out how to get rid of your tonsil stones right? Well I have some good news, I know how to stop tonsil stones from forming! I’ll cover the 3 major steps that you need to take to stop them from creating a “chronic bad breath” environment that plagues people everywhere.

Step 1:

Stop consuming all dairy products. You can stop tonsil stones by this step alone but following the other steps makes the end result not only more effective, but more resistant as well. When I say stop consuming dairy I really mean stop consuming dairy! Milks, creams, cheeses, the list goes on. What I suggest people to do is replace their dairy products with a soy equivalent. Soy products taste MUCH better than you might think they do.  Tonsil stones creation literally feeds off of dairy products.

Step 2:

Gargle 2 to 3 times a day with Grapefruit Seed Extract.  If you’re wondering how it works, I honestly don’t know.  But as a community, I’ve directed thousands of people to try GSE (grapefruit seed extract) for reduction of tonsil stones and almost all of them have had great effects!  To use GSE effectively, squeeze out 2-3 drops of the GSE concentrate into a mouthwash cup and pour a normal “mouthful” amount of water in the cup and stir.  Gargle with this 2 to 3 times a day.  This is specifically effective in combination with the previous step of not eating dairy.

Step 3:

Use a Nasal Sinus Irrigation System to stop the effects of Post Nasal Drip. If you get tonsil stones, you might have Post Nasal Drip as well.  PND is when excess mucus drips down the back of your throat.  If you find yourself clearing your throat a lot, or can actually feel the mucus dripping down your throat throughout the day, then this is an essential step that you need to take as well as the previous 2 steps.  Mucus is packed full of bacteria that tonsil stones thrive off of, especially in the conditioning of dairy products.

These important 3 steps were created by trial and error from this website.  We’ve tried tons of popular tonsil stone remedies and had minimal success minus these steps that we’ve tried.  If you’re serious about your tonsil stones condition, and what to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, then do what I’ve set out for you!  You don’t need to buy an e-book or go to the ENT or have a tonsillectomy.

So many people everywhere have spent hundreds of dollars on products just like I have, trying to find a solution to this pesky problem.  I know from experience that if you find a website that’s promoting the heck of a product that’s suppose to be an “all in one” solution to tonsil stones, it’s a lie!  To list a couple of the different products that I’ve tried that didn’t work;  Profresh, didn’t work for tonsil stones.  SmartMouth doesn’t work for tonsilloliths though again it does do a wonderful job at keeping your breath fresh once you’ve followed my steps to stopping your tonsil stones and having fresh breath again.

Tonsil stones don’t have to rule your life like they have mine.  Take control and start these steps today and you’ll start noticing results in around 3 days.  Why am I giving this information away for free when other people charge for it?  I love helping people, and I know EXACTLY what it feels like to have tonsil stones and bad breath all the time.  I couldn’t charge for this information when I know what it’s like to live with this condition.

White spots on my tonsils – What are they?

January 4, 2010 in Bad Breath, Tonsil Stones, Tonsillolith by Josh (admin)

If you’re wondering “what are the white posts on my tonsils?” then you’ve browsed to the right website! The first thing you have to answer is; Are you, or have you been sick recently with sinusitis or an upper respiratory infection?

Whatever your answer might be, the white spots on your tonsils are called “tonsilloliths”, otherwise known as “tonsil stones”. There’s nothing to be afraid of, as they’re mostly harmless to your tonsils. They’re simply a calcified formation of white blood cells, food debri, and bacteria from your mouth.

If you’ve recently been sick and just noticed that the white spots have been forming on your tonsils then most likely you don’t need to do anything about it. They will go away on their own once the sickness or infection has gone away. If you’ve noticed them over a period of months, then they’re there to stay unless you do something about it! People that are uninformed have thought that it might be cancer of the throat but this isn’t the case luckily.

The most common symptom of having chronic tonsil stones or white spots, is having bad breath. In bad cases the bad breath and sour taste won’t go away, or comes back within an hour or two of brushing your teeth. This is common in cases where the tonsil stones are a condition of the tonsils, not just a temporary flare up from a sickness.

I’ve dedicated this entire website to talking about and finding a real cure for tonsil stones, as there’s a lot of hype and bad information out there on how to stop them from forming. With the help of this tonsil stones community, we’ve written a resource guide on how to get rid of tonsil stones, the white spots forming on the back of your tonsils. In the resource, we cover what tonsilloliths are, why they form, what products to use to keep them at bay, and what foods to stay away from that cause them to form at a much more rapid rate.

Something to note that I was just informed of, if you notice that the white spots grow larger and larger to the point that they’re irritating your tonsils, you should seek medical advice immediately as it can cause an infection. Most people (99%) just experience these as very small tonsil rocks that don’t do much more than cause bad breath.

Have you experienced these white spots on your tonsils? Let’s chat =]

Bad Breath Everyday

January 4, 2010 in Bad Breath, Tonsil Stones, Tonsillolith by Josh (admin)

This is exactly what I used to deal with, Bad Breath Everyday. I would wake up knowing that I had bad breath and go about my day knowing that I couldn’t talk close to people because my breath was offensive. This takes an emotional and sometimes physical toll on your brain after years and years of negative reactions.

I actually thought it was funny when I first learned why I had bad breath. I researched and researched and self-diagnosed myself with having “tonsil stones”. Typing “tonsil stones” into a search engine, I found myself on the most popular websites about tonsil stones. It seemed like every single one of them pointed to a specific website that promotes products that claim to cure tonsil stones (not saying who). I proceeded to spend over $400 within the period of a year on products hoping to find a cure. Every single one of them didn’t work. I was left hopeless and wondering if I would ALWAYS have bad breath every single day for the rest of my life.

I have background in website design being a freelance web designer for a number of years. I thought to myself one day, “I’m going to make a site about tonsil stones, and I’m going to review EVERY single product that I can get my hands on until I find something that works and then promote it to the world!” That’s exactly what I did.

Through countless hours of research and way too much money spent, I’ve created a step-by-step resource that when followed properly, will completely stop your chronic bad breath and tonsil stones! Bad breath doesn’t have to follow you the rest of your life, constantly reminding you that you have NO confidence to talk to people to or engage in a meaningful conversation actually looking someone in the eye and talking straight towards them. It’s stressful I know! I’ve lived it almost all my life until recently when I’ve been completely freed from this burnden of tonsil stones forming. I’ve finally figured out how to get rid of tonsil stones and bad breath everyday and I’m here to share it to the world!

Tonsilloliths & Tonsil Stones

December 17, 2009 in Tonsillolith by Josh (admin)

Today we’re discussing the close relations between having tonsilloliths, otherwise known as tonsil stones, and chronic halitosis. Although there are many reasons why one could have chronic bad breath, tonsilloliths are being diagnosed more and more as the reason why.

Typically people that suffer from chronic tonsillitis, which is reoccurring swollen tonsils and sore throats, often experience problems with their breath as well. A patient who has tonsilloliths present is 10 times more likely to have problems with bad breath, than someone who doesn’t experience the growth of tonsilloliths. This statistic is slightly unnerving considering that if you’re reading this, you’re probably experiencing tonsilloliths on a regular basis.

If you’re currently fed up with having tonsil stones, here’s a few things that you should stay away from to keep them at bay until you download our ebook and start getting rid of them for good.
Alcohol: This is a huge aggressor for tonsilloliths, if you can feel that you have some building up inside your tonsils and you drink alcohol, we’ve found that this causes them to grow much more rapidly. Most likely from the fact that bacteria feeds off of this, and the dry mouth that follows along with it.
Dairy: Another huge aggressor in tonsilloliths formation is dairy. You can notice a slight reduction in tonsilloliths simply by reducing the amount of dairy that you consume.

I’ve searched the internet far and wide for information that will cure tonsilloliths and I’ve found that almost every bit of information that I’ve read always points to buying something that is obviously just a pawn to make money, with little or no good useful information that will actually HELP.

This is the reason that I created this website and my E-Book. I know I probably sound like every other Tonsil Stones “buy my book” ad right now, but with the help of this awesome community that’s developed, I’ve gathered and organized a step by step process that if you follow, you WILL stop all of your tonsilloliths from forming! And it doesn’t make you follow some strict diet that doesn’t let you eat anything normal, like a lot of e-books will direct you to do.

Until next time, take care! – Josh Katherman

Tonsil Stones – How to Remove Them

November 11, 2009 in Tonsil Stone Remedies, Tonsil Stones by Josh (admin)

There’s articles all over the web describing how to remove tonsil stones that have built up inside your tonsil crypts. In this article I’ll cover every method that we’ve ever come across in order to ensure that you find a method of how to remove tonsil stones that works best for you. We’ve found that the majority of the time, a particular method that works for one person doesn’t work nearly as well for another.

Tonsil Stones Removal

Method 1: Using either a Q-Tip or a finger, apply pressure to the outside of the tonsil which can squeeze the tonsil stone up and out of the crypt. Sometimes people apply pressure and then push up on their tonsil to further coax the stone up and out.

Method 2: This particular method only works for some people. Using your throat muscles, flex and contract the back of your tongue and throat causing pressure which can push tonsil stones out. From our research only a number of people were able to remove tonsil stones using this method.

Method 3: If you can physically see a stone sticking out of your tonsil, using a dental pick you can pull it directly out. One must use caution when applying this method as if you’re careless it could result in making your tonsils bleed and worse, an infection.

Method 4: This is the most effective method by far, and the most widely used as well. Using a dental irrigation unit, you can use pressurized water to squirt inside the tonsil crypt, flushing out all existing tonsil stones. Before you go and buy a cheap irrigation unit take my word of caution; You’ll need to purchase a unit that has a very low pressure setting. When I first read about this method I purchased a $40 unit from Amazon and it ripped my tonsils apart. I had bleeding and an infection that resulted from using this cheap unit. Out of the dental irrigators that I’ve tried by far I prefer the QuickBreeze Dental Oral Irrigator which directly connects to your faucet so it lets your decide the pressure, rather than using a hand-held unit that has two settings “high & highest”.

I feel like I’m rambling here but it’s the Quickbreeze is actually made to use on your gums, so if you ever experience bleeding gums or gum disease (which can cause bad breath right beside tonsil stones) then this is killing two birds with one stone. Take care, feel free to email me any questions or leave a comment! – Josh

Tonsil Stones

October 12, 2009 in Tonsil Stones, Tonsillolith by Josh (admin)

When people think of “stones” in the body they almost always think of “kidney stones”. But there’s actually another location that stones can form, inside your tonsils. Chronic sore throats, inflammation, white mucus-like substances coming from the tonsils, are all common symptoms of tonsil stones (tonsilloliths). Inside your tonsils are crevices, and holes (crypts) that can trap bacteria and food debris.

Tonsil stones aren’t just food debris, like some dentists will tell you. They’re a formation of mucus, dead white blood cells, food debris and oral bacteria. A healthy tonsils rule is to protect your mouth from foreign debris and bacteria, and given a culmination of all these conditions your tonsils work to calcify, or harden, the bacteria, food debris and mucus inside your tonsil crypts and crevices. This causes white balls to harden and form inside your tonsils. Tonsil stones are typicall small in size, ranging from 1-3mm, but in rare occasions reaching sizes that cause the patient extreme pain and discomfort.

In a normal case of tonsil stones, you might experience any or all of these symptoms:

Bad Breath: This is the most common of all the symptoms of tonsil stones. The volatile sulfur compounds released by tonsil stones spread throughout the mouth and cause chronic, reoccurring bad breath.

Ear Pain and Pressure: Being connected to the ear pathways, in rare cases patients have reported ear pain and pressure as the results of tonsil stones.

Tonsillitis: This is another common symptom that coexists with tonsilloliths. Symptoms are chronic inflammation and irritation of the tonsils.

Sore Throat: Typically caused either by large tonsil stones, or tonsillitis, sore throats accompany many tonsil stone sufferers.

Bleeding Tonsils: In more extreme cases, bleeding can occur in the tonsil or surrounding region. If you’re experiencing bleeding tonsils you should be looked at by an ENT (ear nose throat specialist) as it could cause infections.

To most people, the worst side effect of having tonsil stones (tonsilloliths) is having chronic bad breath. This is caused by the gases and bacteria that they release when formed. The bacteria from a tonsil stone is so dominant that when not properly taken care of, spreads throughout the entire mouth even down the back of your tongue. This is the reason that tonsil stone sufferers usually brush their teeth constantly throughout the day. Some people don’t experience calcified tonsil stones, but just a white puss or mucus-like liquid coming from their tonsils. In both cases people usually report chronic bad breath.

Tonsil stones CAN be remedied. Somethings to be weary of are the books for sale that say they cure tonsilloliths, when actually they impose very strict diets that are hard to follow. Take Care!
