10 Ways to Prevent Tonsil Stones

January 15, 2010 in Tonsil Stone Remedies, Tonsil Stones by Josh (admin)

This page is going to cover 10 preventative methods to stop tonsil stones.  Tonsil stones, for most people, seem to form out of nowhere for no reason but the truth of the matter is some foods and drinks really do encourage their growth!  Here’s a list of different ways to prevent and remove tonsil stones.

Tonsil Stones Prevention:

1. Alcoholic mouthwashes can increase halitosis levels in patients with and without tonsil stones.  This is because alcohol drys out the mouth and encourages the growth of bad bacteria, including the growth of tonsilloliths.

2. Alcoholic drinks will increase the growth rate of stones as well, for the same reasons.  Our community has tested this on multiple occasions.   We rated our tonsil stone condition before and after a period where we drank alcohol and in every case there was an increase in tonsil stone levels.

3. Dairy products are one of the biggest train wrecks of tonsil stones.  Drinking milk daily, or using dairy creamer in coffee daily will result in a constant production of these nasty buggers.

4. This goes without saying, but good oral hygiene is a great foundation for any breath problems.  While good oral hygiene will not stop tonsil stones, it gives your mouth the building blocks for a good environment to prosper in.

5. Flossing and gum maintenance are also good steps for the prevention of tonsil stones and bad breath.  Again this step will not stop them from forming but the healthier your mouth is in general, the easier it will be to keep your mouth healthy.

6. Tongue scraping is a wonderful way to promote fresh breath and minimize the production and potency of tonsil stones.  Remember that any method that reduces the amount of “bad” bacteria in the mouth, will help in tonsil stones prevention.

7. Gargle with diluted Grapefruit Seed Extract 2 through 3 times per day.  This is an important step.  To be totally honest, I don’t know why this product works for stopping tonsil stones but it does.

8. Minimize mouth bacteria by flushing out the nasal cavities.  Using a Nasal & Sinus Irrigation Systemwill prevent all the bacteria from the nasal cavity from dripping down the back of your throat and tongue, where the worst oral bacteria is located.

9. Using an Oxygenated Toothpaste helps promote an extremely healthy environment for your mouth, reducing the ability for tonsil stones to grow.  This method alone will not prevent tonsil stones but it absolutely recommended as part of your oral hygiene method.

10. Sign up as a user on our tonsil stones website!  You’ll be able to talk to people exactly like you who have suffered with tonsil stones their entire lives.  You’ll be able to post your own stories for the world to see, and read other people’s stories, this is essential because it will give you a different perspective on how people have dealt with their problems, and the solutions that they’ve found in the end.

I hope these preventative method to stopping tonsil stones will help everyone that reads them.  I believe they’re the best preventative methods that are currently available.  While some of them may not be “popular” methods, they’ve all been testing and approved by the thousands of people that visit this website per month!  Take Care

Tonsil Stones – Get Rid of Them Now!

January 13, 2010 in Post Nasal Drip, Tonsil Stone Remedies, Tonsil Stones by Josh (admin)

If you’re reading this article, you’re probably trying to figure out how to get rid of your tonsil stones right? Well I have some good news, I know how to stop tonsil stones from forming! I’ll cover the 3 major steps that you need to take to stop them from creating a “chronic bad breath” environment that plagues people everywhere.

Step 1:

Stop consuming all dairy products. You can stop tonsil stones by this step alone but following the other steps makes the end result not only more effective, but more resistant as well. When I say stop consuming dairy I really mean stop consuming dairy! Milks, creams, cheeses, the list goes on. What I suggest people to do is replace their dairy products with a soy equivalent. Soy products taste MUCH better than you might think they do.  Tonsil stones creation literally feeds off of dairy products.

Step 2:

Gargle 2 to 3 times a day with Grapefruit Seed Extract.  If you’re wondering how it works, I honestly don’t know.  But as a community, I’ve directed thousands of people to try GSE (grapefruit seed extract) for reduction of tonsil stones and almost all of them have had great effects!  To use GSE effectively, squeeze out 2-3 drops of the GSE concentrate into a mouthwash cup and pour a normal “mouthful” amount of water in the cup and stir.  Gargle with this 2 to 3 times a day.  This is specifically effective in combination with the previous step of not eating dairy.

Step 3:

Use a Nasal Sinus Irrigation System to stop the effects of Post Nasal Drip. If you get tonsil stones, you might have Post Nasal Drip as well.  PND is when excess mucus drips down the back of your throat.  If you find yourself clearing your throat a lot, or can actually feel the mucus dripping down your throat throughout the day, then this is an essential step that you need to take as well as the previous 2 steps.  Mucus is packed full of bacteria that tonsil stones thrive off of, especially in the conditioning of dairy products.

These important 3 steps were created by trial and error from this website.  We’ve tried tons of popular tonsil stone remedies and had minimal success minus these steps that we’ve tried.  If you’re serious about your tonsil stones condition, and what to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, then do what I’ve set out for you!  You don’t need to buy an e-book or go to the ENT or have a tonsillectomy.

So many people everywhere have spent hundreds of dollars on products just like I have, trying to find a solution to this pesky problem.  I know from experience that if you find a website that’s promoting the heck of a product that’s suppose to be an “all in one” solution to tonsil stones, it’s a lie!  To list a couple of the different products that I’ve tried that didn’t work;  Profresh, didn’t work for tonsil stones.  SmartMouth doesn’t work for tonsilloliths though again it does do a wonderful job at keeping your breath fresh once you’ve followed my steps to stopping your tonsil stones and having fresh breath again.

Tonsil stones don’t have to rule your life like they have mine.  Take control and start these steps today and you’ll start noticing results in around 3 days.  Why am I giving this information away for free when other people charge for it?  I love helping people, and I know EXACTLY what it feels like to have tonsil stones and bad breath all the time.  I couldn’t charge for this information when I know what it’s like to live with this condition.

Tonsil Stones – How to Remove Them

November 11, 2009 in Tonsil Stone Remedies, Tonsil Stones by Josh (admin)

There’s articles all over the web describing how to remove tonsil stones that have built up inside your tonsil crypts. In this article I’ll cover every method that we’ve ever come across in order to ensure that you find a method of how to remove tonsil stones that works best for you. We’ve found that the majority of the time, a particular method that works for one person doesn’t work nearly as well for another.

Tonsil Stones Removal

Method 1: Using either a Q-Tip or a finger, apply pressure to the outside of the tonsil which can squeeze the tonsil stone up and out of the crypt. Sometimes people apply pressure and then push up on their tonsil to further coax the stone up and out.

Method 2: This particular method only works for some people. Using your throat muscles, flex and contract the back of your tongue and throat causing pressure which can push tonsil stones out. From our research only a number of people were able to remove tonsil stones using this method.

Method 3: If you can physically see a stone sticking out of your tonsil, using a dental pick you can pull it directly out. One must use caution when applying this method as if you’re careless it could result in making your tonsils bleed and worse, an infection.

Method 4: This is the most effective method by far, and the most widely used as well. Using a dental irrigation unit, you can use pressurized water to squirt inside the tonsil crypt, flushing out all existing tonsil stones. Before you go and buy a cheap irrigation unit take my word of caution; You’ll need to purchase a unit that has a very low pressure setting. When I first read about this method I purchased a $40 unit from Amazon and it ripped my tonsils apart. I had bleeding and an infection that resulted from using this cheap unit. Out of the dental irrigators that I’ve tried by far I prefer the QuickBreeze Dental Oral Irrigator which directly connects to your faucet so it lets your decide the pressure, rather than using a hand-held unit that has two settings “high & highest”.

I feel like I’m rambling here but it’s the Quickbreeze is actually made to use on your gums, so if you ever experience bleeding gums or gum disease (which can cause bad breath right beside tonsil stones) then this is killing two birds with one stone. Take care, feel free to email me any questions or leave a comment! – Josh

Tonsil Stones – Why do I get them?

September 21, 2009 in Bad Breath, Tonsil Stone Remedies, Tonsil Stones, Tonsillolith by Josh (admin)

Through personal experiences and newly researched information, I’ve gathered a list of foods and drinks that can cause tonsil stones, as well as a list of foods and drinks that don’t directly cause tonsil stones but rather feed their growth drastically.

Foods and Drinks that cause tonsil stones: This category can essentially be summed up into one word, “dairy”. This is a broad term that applies to more foods and drinks than you might initially think! Obviously, milk, creamers, and cheese are the main dairy products you would think of. Less known products would be any kind of chocolate, some canned sauces, almost all candy bars, and chocolate drinks (slimfast, protein drinks etc). To really completely cut out dairy, which is recommended during the first 7-14 days of eliminating tonsil stones, it “will” take self-control and effort on your part to really look at what you’re eating and drinking, checking ingredient lists, and so on.

While in this 7-14 days of non-dairy diet, you should also stay away from a number of foods and drinks that don’t “cause” tonsil stones directly, but rather fuel their growth dramatically. These foods and drinks are: Any alcohol, foods or snacks with high sugar contents, mouthwashes with alcohol in them, foods with extremely high levels of protein. Again in the initial one to two week period, try to stay away from all dairy, and the other foods and drinks I mentioned. Even one or two meals of pizza or other cheese products can turn your progress around fast. Follow these steps, as well as the other steps mentioned in our e-book and you’ll be on the only real method to stop tonsil stones available!

Take care everyone – Josh Katherman

Review – QuickBreeze Dental Irrigator – Tonsil Stones Removal

August 28, 2009 in Product Reviews, Tonsil Stone Remedies by Josh (admin)

Tonsil Stones Removal - Oral Irrigator

Today in review is a new tonsil stone removal method covered in our e-book “Tonsil Stones – The Real Cure”. I’ve had a lot of comments saying “I have this tonsil stone lodged deep inside and I can’t get it out! Some of you may purchase a normal oral irrigator to try to remove the tonsil stone(s). A word of warning; Almost every oral irrigation unit out there uses way too much pressure, even on the lowest setting! The reason they produce so much pressure is because they’re actually not made to clean out tonsil crypts, they’re made to use pressure to clean in between the teeth and gums. I’ve personally tried two portable units and they’ve both made my tonsils bleed, which could lead to infection. Anyone with tonsil stones knows that the last thing they need over bad breath, is swollen and infected tonsils!

The solution? The Dental Irrigator from QuickBreeze. The reason this is different from other oral irrigation units is that it hooks directly to your faucet, so YOU control the pressure! This is completely essential considering most tonsil stone sufferer’s tonsils can’t handle the pressure that a typical unit produces. The tip is curved so you can easily reach the end inside your tonsil crypts.

Tis all for today! Take care everyone – Josh Katherman

Dairy is fine for tonsil stones, or is it?

August 23, 2009 in Bad Breath, Tonsil Stone Remedies, Tonsil Stones by Josh (admin)

Hey guys, this post is to help you make sure you’re doing all you can to eliminate tonsil stones, and keep them away! First step is to make sure you’re gargling with grapefruit seed extract.

The next step is to minimize, not completely eliminate, dairy. What I mean by this is, stay away from drinking milk, eating cereal with milk, eating yogurt etc. Things like cheeseburgers, cheesesteaks, toasted cheese etc., are perfectly fine! I still eat all those things and never have any issue with tonsil stones anymore. Stay away from anything dairy that’s liquid, or can get into your tonsil crypts easily. You’re essentially trying to minimize the amount of dairy that finds its way inside your tonsils, and liquid obviously does the most damage.

Just for fun, I’d like to know the amount of you that are lactose intolerant. As mentioned in my ebook, they seem to walk side by side but that’s just relying on other industries studies. I like to make my own =] People that are lactose intolerant usually have gas, at the least, when they drink milk. Other symptoms of being lactose intolerant are diarrhea and stomach pains.

If you’re NOT lactose intolerant, email me back! If you are, don’t do anything (besides download my e-book and share all the information I’ve gathered with everyone that suffers!) If you don’t know, drink a glass of milk when you wake up without eating anything and see what happens (ouch.. maybe you shouldn’t!).

Take care everyone! – Josh Katherman

Product Review – Post Nasal Drip – Neti Pot Starter Kit

July 26, 2009 in Bad Breath, Post Nasal Drip, Product Reviews, Tonsil Stone Remedies by Josh (admin)

Himalayan Institute Neti Pot Starter Kit

For those of you suffering from Post Nasal Drip, there’s finally a solution for you! Today we’re reviewing the Neti Pot Starter Kit
from Himalayan Institute. While still affordable, it contains everything you need to properly flush out the nasal passage, eliminating excess mucus and bacteria, without the high costs of alot of nasal irrigation units. This is important because tonsil stones feed off mucus running down the back of your throat. In fact it’s one of the main reasons why tonsil stones will flourish in this environment! Essentially they feed off the protein contained in the mucus. This is why it’s so important to eliminate all excess mucus in the nasal passages. This is accomplished easily with the Neti Pot Starter Kit.

What’s great about using the Himalayan Institute Neti Pot is that’s super easy and comfortable: You prepare the saline solution by direction, Mix a quarter teaspoon of the Neti Pot salt (which is included), then add 8 ounces of water. Turn your head to the side and raise up the end of the neti pot letting the solution run through the nasal passage. The reason why you turn your head to the side is because part of the nasal passage actually runs upward (this is the reason why it hurts in between your eyes when you have a sinus infection), and the only way to reach this area is to turn the head to the side.

Eliminating the excess mucus, allergens and dust, is not only beneficial for your breath, but for your health as well! You’ll experience a great reduction in sinus infections and irritation. So pick up this nasal cleansing system to greatly reduce bad breath, as well as better overall health!

More Tonsil Stone Prevention Methods

April 1, 2009 in Bad Breath, Tonsil Stone Remedies, Tonsil Stones, Tonsillolith by Josh (admin)

Tonsil Stones Prevention

As I’ve spoken about before, there’s many ways to maximize prevention of tonsil stones, including dietary changes composed of less sugars, less red meats, more vegetables. I’ve created a tonsil stone prevention guide for those suffering from tonsil stones, or technically known as tonsilloliths. This tonsil stone prevention guide along with my Tonsil Stone Removal Guide Article you will be giving your tonsil stones a run for their money =]

Tonsil Stones Prevention – Diet

I want you to work with me, and try this for a week. It will cost a little bit of money to select the right foods, and a little bit of self-control not to eat fast food but just see if a combination of these things doesn’t do wonders for tonsil stone prevention!

First off, plan out at least 2 meals for every day. The meals can consist of any of the following…

    Main Courses:

  • Baked chicken
  • Baked Turkey
    Side Dishes

  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Spinach
  • Corn
  • Rice
    Drinks

  • Nothing but water!! I can’t stress this point enough. Sodas and sugared teas etc, will all promote tonsil stone growth.

Brush your teeth after ever meal ( i feel like your mom ) gargle with grapefruit seed extract afterwards.  With tonsil stone preventions in place (the diet) and suppression of tonsil stone bacteria (proper cleansing techniques described), tonsil stones will not only be starved of the things they need to grow, but you’ll also be stopping the tonsil stones are currently at home in your mouth, from spreading their bacteria!

Hit tonsil stone prevention from every angle you can! And you’ll be sure to have the freshest breath you can have! =] I know it might take a little bit of sacrifice and self-control but give it a try! I think you’ll be pleased with the results you’ll get following this tonsil stone prevention guide!

Take care, and be careful of scams out there!

Tonsil Stones, Tonsilloliths Removal Methods

April 1, 2009 in Bad Breath, Tonsil Stone Remedies, Tonsil Stones, Tonsillolith by Josh (admin)

Remove Tonsil Stones

As ThompsonF in the forums suggested, I’m writing an article on methods of tonsil stone, (tonsillolith tonsillith) removal! Some have worked for me fairly well, some haven’t but nevertheless I’m covering all of them that I know of. If you know of any other methods leave a reply and I’ll add it to the list. =]

  • Q-Tip apply pressure to the tonsil area, working from bottom to top. This pushes the tonsil stones out of the tonsil crypts. Be careful of your gag reflex though XD
  • Grapefruit Seed Extract is, in general, an awesome antibacterial substance. It also does wonders on keeping fresh breath, as well as tonsil stones prevention! Check out my review of grapefruit seed extract here at the Grapefruit Seed Extract Review. Try it and give your own feedback!
  • Gargling with Salt-Water. This method hasn’t worked specifically well for me, but I bet with combination of removal then garling with salt water I bet it can help with reduction, or help ease removal if used before
  • Water-Pik. I’ve had a bad experience with this one. I bought some random cheap one on amazon and tried it on the “low” setting to shoot water either in the crypt or to shoot it at the tonsil tissue to push tonsil stones out. First time I tried it I almost drown myself (there’s some things you really just shouldn’t admit) and ended up with a bloody tonsil! But reports from users say that water piks work great for them! It’s definitely worth a shot anyways.
  • Bobby Pin bent to dig tonsil stone out. Well, I really wouldn’t recommend this hehe. You could try it but there’s a good chance you might end up with an infected tonsil from stabbed it to death. This would only work good if you have a real big tonsil stone sticking half way out of your crypt. (still no recommended!)
  • Change of Diet can do wonders for reduction of tonsil stone occurrence!

Welp, this concludes my general list of ways to effectively removal tonsil stones, otherwise known as tonsilloliths or tonsilliths (tonsillolith is the correct name by the way). Again if you can think of, or personally use, any other effective methods leave a post and I’ll add to the list! Together we can create a wonderful source of information for the general community on tonsil stone removal, remedies, and cures!

Take care of yourselves,

- Josh
