Tonsil Stones, what are they?

What are Tonsil Stones?
Well to describe what tonsil stones looks like, they’re typically irregularly shaped, usually white or yellow in color. Tonsil stones (technically known as tonsilloliths) come from in the crypts of your tonsils forming from excess drainage (mucas), and bacteria. It builds up over time and usually either comes out, or sometimes tonsil stones can get stuck in your tonsil leaving you feel like there’s something stuck in your throat.

If you’re noticing white pieces or balls coming out of the tonsil region then you’re definitely experiencing tonsil stones! I have suffered from tonsil stones for many years and am still searching for the right combination of techniques to combat their growth.
Tonsil Stones Symptoms
While tonsil stones can produce unpleasant uncomforts and smells, they’re completely harmless in nature. Only in the recent years, has the throat specialist community begun to understand what they are, and how and why they form. If you’ve suffered from tonsil stones in the past and asked your dentist what they were, some people have got responses saying “it’s food particles” which is absolutely incorrect!
There’s many symptoms that can result from having tonsil stones including constant sore throats, irritation, feeling something stuck in your tonsil or the back of your throat, sour or metallic taste in your mouth, and the worst of them all bad breath!

Hey Alex, it very well could be adenoid stones. These are physically, exactly the same as tonsil stones except they form in the crypts of your adenoids instead of your tonsils. As long as GSE can reach back that far when you gargle it should absolutely remedy the problem!

So I’ve been pretty sure I have tonsil stones, but I’m not sure the problem is acually in my tonsils. I feel like there’s something stuck further down in my throat, like behind the thyroid. I can’t see that far down. This happened once before and I coughed up a hideous thing that seemed to be a tonsil stone–it was pretty big. Now it’s happening again and it’s so bad that I’m getting really nauseous. I think it’ll come out eventually but I don’t know how long I can take this. So can it be a tonsil stone if it’s that far down the throat, or what?
