Tonsillectomy Surgery Information and Options

There’s two main types of surgeries you can have done to removal your tonsils, the first and most popular is a tonsillectomy (removal of tonsils). The second and growing in popularity is laser tonsil removal, which is actually where they use a laser to burn layers of the tonsil tissue away until there’s little or nothing left for tonsil stones to hide in. The reason I mentioned tonsil stones is they’re the common reason for people to have their tonsils removed due to constant irritation or sore throats as this could lead to infections or other complications. If you’re just dealing with bad breath, DON’T run out and get your tonsil’s ripped out! Trust me there’s many things that you can do to effectively eliminate tonsil stones without cutting the entire tonsil out. I’d only recommend a tonsillectomy if you’re experiencing chronic tonsil infections or constant irritation and swelling.

Tonsillectomy Post-Operative Conditions

Also you should be aware of post-operative conditions of a tonsilectomy. Patients commonly report extreme pain for as much as two weeks, with bleeding and crusting over of the area operated on. Typically the age where they start to shy away from tonsillectomies is around age 25 or older. But know that there’s still hope if you don’t want to risk cutting them out! Check out the “Remedies” section of this site for many articles explaining various ways to help eliminate tonsil stones, tonsilloliths, completely!
